Van Delft

Tilburg

Netherlands

Van Delft´s pram factory existed already in 1876.
Pram manufacturer "de firma L.W. van Delft" in the Poststraat received at June 29, 1909 the predicate royal warrant holder. Founder was Lambertus Wilhelmus van Delft (1841-1919), who ran this company with his sons Henricus Adrianus Wilhelmus van Delft (1877-1943) and Adrianus Andreas Wilhelmus van Delft (1882-1925). On the occasion of the granting of that predicate the company made a colored postcard of Queen Wilhelmina with Princess Juliana in a pram of Van Delft. The back of the map mentions: "it has Her Majesty the Queen pleased, given the fine finishing of our delivered prams, us H.M. weapon to donate". Van Delft was also a ´real´ purveyor. The stroller, which in 1909 was manufactured in command of ´the women of the province of Zeeland´, is located in the national museum Het Loo Palace.

The pram of Queen Wilhelmina

The outside of the pram is totally inserted with ivory, it´s upholstered with white satin and the hood is completed with white chrome leather surrounded with real lace. The sides are decorated with three dimensional crowns and at the head is the shield weapon of Zeeland. The had a bobbin lace canopy which unfortunally has disappeared.

New factory

In 1914 the company ordered the architect C.H. van Hoof to built a new factory at the Telegraafstraat. In 1993 lots of commotion came as the local authorities intended to demolish this historic valuable building in Art Déco-style. Fanally an agreement came witch the owner NCB which made it at least partially kept.
